Historical Resources of
an Official Nature
The official records for Citrus County were initiated when the County was formed from Hernando County in 1887. The maintenance and preservation of these official records is regulated by Florida Statues as part of the duties of the Clerk of the Court. Freedom of access to the records is guaranteed to all who may wish to research their entries and the County has made provisions to assist in such research. Some of the more current records are maintained in the records office in the New Courthouse while older records of a more historical value are preserved and cared for in the Old Courthouse by the Citrus County Historian, assisted by volunteers from the Citrus County Historical Society.The address of the Citrus County Historical Society is listed on the Citrus County Resouces Page.
