Live Oak, nicknamed “the city of nature,” and established in 1858, is the county seat of Suwannee County. In 2010 the population was at 6,850. Interstate 10, along with U. S. Highway’s 129 and 90 are Live Oak’s major thoroughfare. A large Live Oak tree (a gathering place for the locals) located near the railway served as inspiration for its name.
