Pinellas
County is a peninsula in the Gulf of Mexico.
Until 1911 it was a part of Hillsborough County.
At
that time the name became Punta Piñal ... spanish for Point
of
Pines or Piney Point. The peninsula area which divides Tampa
Bay
from the Gulf and little bit of land connecting it to the
mainland
were incorporated into the county. |

Pinellas County Coordinator and a sixth generation "Native Floridian." I
