Frank Buckles is the lone survivor of World War I. He enlisted in WWI at the age of sixteen in the US Army. He returned to the United States as a Corporal. After having been a soldier in WWI, Frank became a purser on the ship Western World, where his travels led him to Manila. He was captured as a civilian by the Japanese and became a prisoner of war in WWII. Today Frank is the last of the "doughboys of WWI." Read his remarkable story! |
