Mr. John W. Waters, one of the pioneer citizens of this county and living near Ocala since 1858, died Sunday morning after a lingering illness.
During the civil war he was a brave soldier in Capt. S. D. McConnells company and served in the Army of the Tennessee, under General Robert Bullock. He leaves two brothers and sisters to mourn his death. He was born in Lexington, S. C., in 1836. His remains were interred in the old cemetery (Evergreen) Monday.
