Double Sink School, Levy County, Florida about 1925. That's my father N.R. Doke in the front row, on the left. Let me know if any o' y'all can identify any of the other folks. I expect most of them were kin to him: Doke, Roberts, Asbell, Morgan, Sheffield, Weeks, Manley, Howard, Wilcox, Simmons and Geiger were all among the local kinfolks! One day I'll get around to scanning the painting that my cousin's wife did of the old Pine Grove Baptist Church and I'll share that too. My G-Grandmother's brother-in-law James K. Sheffield (married to Linnie Roberts) was either the founding Pastor or an early one.

General Note

Built by Dr. Daniel Andrews Sr. on the eastern tip of the island. Manufactured "Donax Brushes" and brush fibers out of young cabbage palms from 1910 until 1952 except during World War II when it closed for a lack of workers. Palm fibers were shipped nationwide and as far as Canada, Germany, and Australia. Locally known as the "Fiber Factory". Standing at the far left is St. Clair Whitman - operator of the first museum in Cedar Key.
