Ozello is an unincorporated community in Citrus
County, west of US Hwy 19. Its unspoiled beauty beckons all who
long for yesterday. Enjoy nature at its best!
A Little History:
In 1900 there were forty-nine
inhabitants
of which four were black. Among the population was Benjamin F. Early, a
merchant from Pennsylvania, a widower; the Bryant Moody family,
merchant and Bevious V. Burt, listed as a tie contractor; Edward
Wheeler, James Jones and Joseph Brown were three of the twenty farmers
living in Ozello along with four fishermen, rounding out the
population,
which included, Dupree Wheeler and Joseph Wadington.
