(MCGS) website where they have had
a cemetery project for many years. So, for this county, MCGS is

Tombstone Transcription Project: A small listing of county cemeteries with a
partial list of burials.

Roman
Catholic Diocese of Portland, Maine controls 65 cemeteries in
and around Portland. They are in the process of digitizing
these burial records.

For OBITS in the current and past three (3)
years, go to TCPalm.com. Click on OBITS. Then
scroll down to SEARCH OPTIONS. Select "Search By Date" by
using the "arrows" on either side of the "calendar". Click on
the death date. Another webpage will open, allowing you to
"Modify Your Search". Change the end date for a few weeks of
time. Enter the last name; click on search. Link to
TCPalm.com.

Date of deaths can be obtained via the
Social Security Death Index on Roots Web.com.

For OBITS in the older computer and internet
era, go to www.TCPalm.com/archives/ (Website changed Oct
2009.) In the TCPalm Archive Search Box, in the "Search
...for" keyword box, input "Obituaries
last name". Use
your surname of interest in place of "last name". In the next
input box, click in the circle next to the "Articles from"
date selection box. Select the appropriate month and year. Select "Return best matches first". Click on "Begin Search".
The cost for getting the full obit is about $3.00. Link to
TCPalm.com.
(Stuart News dates from Jan. 1996 to present. But the search
routine is not the best and thus no guarantees
that the obit will be retrievable from the archive.)

Google is now digitizing newspapers. Here is a list of what's

Social Security Form SSA-711:
To download, and subsequently print, the
Request for Deceased
Individual's Social Security Record, Form SSA-711, for mail in
requests, paying via a check or money order. Use in conjunction
with the Social Security Death Index.
Local Family History Center in Palm City:
The local LDS Church, with its' Family History
Center is located at 2401 SW Matheson Road, Palm City, FL, 34990.
It is right next to the Cummings Library, enlarged in 2008-2009, at
the NE corner of Matheson Road and Martin Downs Blvd.
Telephone # 772-287-0167. Normal days and/or nights of
operation are Tues., Thur. and Sat. They have a new piece of
equipment that can convert a microfilm page into a digital page for
download into your travel drive.

Martin Co Library System:
The Martin Co. Library
System maintains a Genealogy Room in the Blake Library, which has
books, etc. provided by the Library System, the Genealogical Society,
donated collections, and others.
To find a "book" in the Gen Room, click on the Library
Catalog option. Then enter your research area, along with
"genealogy", i.e. "New England genealogy", "Germany genealogy". Then
click on subject.
This action will result in a
listing of the books, etc. available in the Gen Room for that particular
region.
Volunteers from the Martin Co. Gen. Soc. provide research assistance
in the Gen Room from 10 am to 4 pm
weekdays and are available to do look ups. See Contacts + to get
more details on how to make a request.
Martin Co. has six branch libraries. The Blake Library has genealogy
books available for home use. Check 929's in the stacks.
Generally, the books in the Gen Room are not available for check out and
home use. The other branches may also have some 929's.
929 is the Dewey Decimal System number for genealogy.
Florida State Genealogical Society and Events:
The Fl State Gen Soc has
its' Pioneers Project as well as a Calendar of Genealogical Events
for the entire state of Florida. Click on "Calendar" to
view and to submit events. FLSGS' publications are also available online. Many
links under Resources.
