Census: 1945 State of Florida images.
- The images are available on the Family Search website. On the home page, on the top horizontal navigation bar, hover on Search Records, and then click on Record Search Pilot. Click on Browse our record collections. Then click on North America (USA) on the world atlas. The images are not yet indexed, but can be browsed by county.
- January, 2010: A name index is available! To get to images, enter a common last name, i.e. Smith, and in the location enter: Martin, Florida, United States.
- Martin Co. has 8 precincts, as given below. There are 148 images. It is estimated that there are about 6000 names.
- All of the 1945 census data is written. Nothing is typed. Each page heading has Precinct #, Town name, County name and Race (white or colored). The data column headings are: Name, Town, In or Out of Town, Age, Male or Female, Place of Birth, Education and Occupation. Family relationship is not given.
- Images 1 & 2 are title pages for Precinct 1, village of Jensen. Image 10 has race of white.
- Images 20 and 21 are title pages for Precinct 2, village of Stuart. Images 22 and 30 have a race of white. Image 40 and 50 have a race of colored.
- Images 60 and 70 are for Precinct 3, village of Stuart, with a race of white. Image 80 was for Precinct 3, Norton Creek, Madison Co., with a race of colored. (This image may be in the wrong position.)
- Image 90 is for Precinct 4, village of Salerno, with a race of white.
- Images 100 and 101 are title pages for Precinct 5, village of Gomez. Image 102 has a race of white. Image 110 is for Gomez, with a race of colored.
- Images 119 and 120 are title pages for Precinct 6, village of Palm City. Image 121 has a race of white.
- Images 130 and 131 are title pages for Precinct 7, village of Port Mayaka. Image 132 has a race of white.
- Image 140 is for Precinct 8, village of Indiantown, with a race of white. Image 148 has a race of colored.
A Precinct 02 Note:
On the 1935 Census image 15 of 53, line # 48, is Ora Dell Hamilton. She died on 18 Feb 1998 as Ora Dell Hamilton Landers. Ora Dell lived in Stuart for 72 years and was a civic leader. Her obit is in the 20 Feb 1998 Stuart News, and a copy is in the Clipped Obits in the Genealogy Room of the Blake Library.
We will see if Ora Dell is in the 1945 Census.
