Jefferson County was created in 1827. It was named for Thomas
Jefferson, third President of the United States of America, who had
died the year before the county's establishment. The County Seat is Monticello. Jefferson was created out of Leon County.

Fran Smith, long time President of FlGenWeb completed her Earthly
mission late in 2016. We are all grieving her loss but we also Celebrate
her life and the positive influence she has been on so many.

As we go forward, we will always remember Fran's Love of Genealogy and the sacrifices she made to push FlGenWeb along.
