Local:

Died – Mr. Joseph Mitchum on March 7th, an old and respected citizen of Walton county; about 65 years of age. Mr. Mitchum was well known to every old resident and universally respected by all. His burial took place at Alaqua last Monday.

 

At the meeting of the stockholders of the Florida Chautauqua, Mr. CH Harris was re-elected president; Daniel Campbell was elected vice-president; TF McGourin, secretary; CH Newell, treasurer; AH Ggilbert, superintendent.

 

Mr. AP Jones is on a visit to Alabama this week.

 

Several of our citizens attended the Teachers Institute of Tampa this week. Among them are Misses Sallie Landrum and Jennie Dixon and Prof. SD Cawthon.

 

Mr. AJ Hutchinson and family from De Funiak Springs, arrived last Tuesday. He intends making his home here – St. A. Messenger
