Jacksonville Genealogical Society will hold their regular meeting on June 18, 2011 at 1:30 at the Webb-Wesconnett Branch Library, 6887 103 rd Street . Jacksonville , Florida . The program is: World War II Photograph Album. We are fortunate to have as our speaker George Bass. George and Chris Bass will give a presentation on digitizing her father’s World War II photo album. They discovered the photo album in 2009 while conducting a genealogy interview with Chris’ mother and sister in Peoria , Illinois . They realized the photo album is a genealogy gem and would not get passed along to all grandchildren and other relatives without duplicating it.
George and Chris will show the contents of the album, talk about prelude and introduction that was added and discuss the process for scanning and creating the album. The photo album is evolving to include more documents and pictures. They will also discuss the impact of distributing the album to relatives.

There are still several Florida Counties that need sponsors. There is really nothing to it. You are not responsible for doing lookups, (unless you want to), and you don't even have to live in the county you sponsor.
