FOREWORD

The Work Project Administration, through the Veterans’ Grave Registration Project, has made possible a survey of Veterans’ Graves in Florida.  The project’s activities have not been confined to the graves and service records of Florida soldiers only, as it seemed fitting that a permanent record should be made of the grave of every American soldier who rests in Florida soil.

The permanent record thus compiled constitutes a valuable addition to the military records of Florida.  Arrangements made by the Military Department with the Bureau of Vital Statistics of the State Board of health ensure its maintenance as a continuing record.

The principle findings are being published in a Register of Deceased Veterans’, in a series of sixty-seven registers.  It is hoped that all persons interested in the military history of our State will be benefited by the publication of this series.
