George Rodgers was born December 31st 1859 and was the son of William Peck Rodgers and Louisa Belle Hollingsworth. George's father William was killed in the Civil War about 1864. George's mother married 2nd the Reverend Levi Pearce who then became George's Step-Father . George married Maggie M. Tippett on Aug.7th,1892 in Desoto county. Maggie was born Feb.5th 1871 and
was the daughter of John Francis Marion Tippett & Amelia Wood both living here in Desoto county. George & Maggie raised 5 children here on property he was deeded to him by his mother Louisa west of Horse Creek about 1895. This property still remains in the family to this day. George died July 31st 1928 and was buried in the Owens cemetery where Maggie was buried beside him upon
her death Jan.12th,1937. George & Maggie were Citrus growers as well as Cattle ranchers and Farmers until their death.
