Death of Jake Burkhardt
Jake Burkhardt, the well known tailor of Oak Street, died at his residence in Arcadia on Monday night. He had been failing in health for some months, with bronchial trouble, but was only confined to the house since Christmas. During his last illness he was taken care of by Baraca Class and the neighbors. The day before his death his daughter, Mrs. Witzke of Cleveland, Ohio, arrived and is still here. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, at the residence, conducted by Rev. White and the body was laid to rest in the Arcadia Cemetery.
Mr. Burkhardt was born in Germany something over 60 years ago, and has lived in Arcadia for a number of years. He was a hard working, unobtrusive man, of kindly nature and will be missed on our business streets. He acquired some property in Arcadia, which his daughter will retain for the present, there being a possibility of her coming here to remain next winter. She will return to Cleveland in a few days.
