Funeral services for Newton I Smith, 70, whose death occurred Tuesday night at his residence at 2017 Delaware Avenue, well be conducted at 5 p.m. Friday from the Church of God, with the pastor, the Rev. Culpepper, officating. Burial will be in the local cemetery, in charge of Yates Funeral home.

A resident of Fort Pierce for the past 40 years, the deceased is survived by his wife, Annie Ella: six sons, Alfred, Curtis, and Newtsy, Fort Pierce, Hennan, Dyer, Tenn., Marvin Feaster, Miami, and Elihu, U.S. army, in Germany; four daughters, Mrs. Clemmie Davis, Mrs. Mary D. Newton, Mrs. Ruth Tucker, Mrs. Loretta Smith, all of Fort Pierce; four brothers, W.H. Smith, Fort Pierce, Esom, Nocatee, Marvin, Arcadia, Robb, Largo.

He was born in Desoto county, the son of William Henry Smith and Mary Stewart Smith.
