Punta Gorda Herald
----------------------------------------------

Capt. James McKay's steamer " Gussie " sailed Sunday morning with a cargo of 700 head of cattle for Cuba. A part of the cattle, 200 head, belong to Mr. D.W.Childs and son, who contemplate going into the cattle business on a large scale in Cuba.  They carried along a lot of poultry and other goods and go with the intention of making their home on the island.
Beside Mr. Childs and his son, a large party of people from Arcadia and this place, went over, some to prospect and others merely for a pleasure trip. Those who went along; Mr. and Mrs. Ab Hollingsworth, Mr. and Mrs. Emery Durrance, Dr. D.N.McQueen, Messrs, W.H. Brown, J.L. Davis, E.A. White, Steve Hooker, A.B.Lasseter and Frank Knight.
The ship is bound for the port of Cardenas, where the passengers will disembark and spend a week or so taking in the sights. They will likely return when the ship makes her next trip.
