Haines City, Fl. Oct.13,1923
Hains City real estate dealers have taken the initial steps toward the
organization of a live wide-awake realtors organization. At a meeting held here Thursday night at which State Treasury Wallace of Jacksonville was present,a tenitative organization was formed to be known as the Haines City RealtorsAssociation with R.O.Philpott of the firm Philpott & Randall as acting president and Fred Miller of the
Isaac Van Horn interest as tempory secretary. Another meeting is called for on Oct.17, to which this organizationwill most likely become permanent. At present it seems that the Haines City Realtors Association will include ten to fifteen members who will be representing much valuable business, home and grove property in and near Haines City.
Southern Students Celebrate Victory  in Street Parade Oct. 1923
 Southern College painted the town "red" last night in celebration of their victory over Stetson yesterday at Adair Field. Traffic was blocked by the students- the students, like students in any other college city, make merry over their victories by paraing down the streets in their respective cities- Lakeland is no exception- and expects to give many more in honor of hard fought victory over their rival with the Stetson University eleven. President Alderman, the coach,
W. W. Alderman, and all took part as well in the parade. The streets were crowded wit people as they watched the Blue and White students celebrate and do their stunts.

 Meusel - McQuillan tried to pick Ruth off first; ball one foul, strike one, ball two, foul, strike two; the hit and run play was on; Meusel struck out,swinging at a wide curve.
Lakeland May Have Hospital - July 1913 -
 Dr. C. C. Wilson Has Plans on foot looking into this end.
 Dr. C. C. Wilson has a foot on movement to establish a hospital in Lakeland, an institution, the need which has long been felt. Dr.Wilson proposes to organize a stock company with about twenty to twenty five thousand dollars capital half of which he is willing to subscribe to himself.
 It is thought such an institution will fit the immediate needs of the community and any necessary expansion can be arranged later.
 The location of Lakeland is calculated to draw patronage for a large scope of territory. The institution will also provide facilities for difficult operations and the treatment of illnesses and injuries,etc. for which patients frequently have to go to other cities to get.
100-Room Apartment House Planned for Lake Morton Drive-

  Dr. C. C. Wilson has returned from Tampa, where he was in confrence with an architect in reguard to the up-to-date apartment house which Dr. Wilson purposes to build on the corner of West Palmetto St. and Lake Morton Drive, this property is owned by Dr.Wilson. The structure Dr. Wilson proposes to build will be of a Spanish style of architecture and will be of hollow tile and stucco, an unusually handsome building. There will be three stories and the building will contain 100 rooms. The location is one of the most beautiful in this city and is next to the Patterson property and overlooks the shimmering waters of Lake Morton.
Ice Company to use Well Water - Lakeland- July 1913 -
 Heads of Institution Decided Yesterday To Abandon Use of Lake Water. -
  Mr. Adams, president of the Lakeland Ice Company, was in Lakeland yesterday coming down from Jacksonville to investigate conditions hrer relating to that enterprise. Mr. Fred W. Kettle, of St.Augustine, who is also connected with the Lakeland Ice Co. reached here yesterday as well.
A conferance between the City Council and the officials of the Ice.Co.was held at a special meeting of the Council yesterday for that purpose, and after having inspected the plant and water supply and discussed the situation the ice people arrived at the determination of abandoning their present method of obtaining water by pumping it from Lake Wire, and will at once install machinery for pumping water from the deep well which has been sunk on  the companies premises.
 The company officials declaired they believed ice made under the present conditions absolutely healtful and they considered illness of any kind as a result of its use impossiable. But in order to satisfy the public and decided to adopt the new system, though it entailed considerable additional expense.
Carilloneur's School Planned At Singing Tower  -  Lakeland Ledger- July-1929;
 Philadelphia, July 1, 1929-  The first school of campanology in this country, to teach the art of carrillon playing, will be inaugurated next season by the Curtis Institute of Music, it was announced by Joseph Hofmann, director. There are said to be only 2 other schools in the world, one at Malines, Belglum, and the other at Oxford University.
 Students of the Curtis Institute will recieve instruction at Mountain Lake, Florida, where Edward Bok has errected the singing tower. Instruction will be given by Anton Brees, carrilloneur of the Bok Singing Tower, the Cranbrook Singing Tower, Detroit, and Scottish Rite Temple, Indianapolis. There are said to be 30 carillons in the United States, with a few qualified players.
