Jackson and Frances Roberts

Sources and Notes:

1 1850 Lee County, GA Census, Fiftieth District, Page 294-B, Dwelling # 371,
   Dated September 21, 1850

2 There is a Jackson Roberts living in Sopchoppy, Fl that is a different line than ours.
Her served in the Florida 8th Infantry, Company B. He was born in 1814 and is buried in the
Roberts Cemetery in Sopchoppy. The 1860 and 1870 census records show that he does not fit our line.
There is also a Jackson Roberts who died in 1864 at Camp Chase OH. It has been impossible to
determine if this is our Jackson Roberts. He died two months before John Whidden arrived
  there as a prisoner.

3 Dated Index to Marriages – Orange County, Florida, Part I: April 1869-December 1899,
  complied by Jean Geisler Vogelius for the Central Florida Genealogical & Historical Society, Inc.;
Note in the Preface: “In 1868, a highly suspicious fire, coinciding with the fall term of the
circuit court in Orlando – the first item on the docket being a noted case of cattle rustling –
reduced the Orange County courthouse to ashes, destroying almost all vital records.”
It should also be noted that Lucinda’s sisters were married in Florida. Arminda was married in
Sumter County, FL, in 1866. Amanda was married in Polk County, FL, in 1870. It is probable that
the Roberts family was already in Florida at the time Lucinda and William were married.

4 While William’s siblings are found in the Sumter County, FL census is 1860, a thorough search
of the 1860 census, as well as Sumter County, FL records for the time period, does not produce
  any information on William.

5 William and Lucinda could have been in either Orange or Polk County. According to the librarians
at the Polk County Historic Library, many areas of Polk County were missed in the 1870 census.
About 1/3 of the census information is fiction, having been made up by a carpetbagger from
Michigan who complied the 1870 Polk County census.

37 Birth and death records on Zebedee’s family were copied from his Family Bible.
Zebedee Calvin Mimbs’ Bible was in the possession of his daughter, Nancy Gardner.
A family member took the Bible and would not return it. Nancy asked them to at least
return the family record page. The page of the Bible containing family records was ripped
from the Bible and returned to Nancy. She later gave the page to Joey Mimbs.
The family records page is in the possession of Joey Mimbs today.
