| New Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church,the Rev. M.H.Wickman, is already an ardent booster for Lakeland, as evidence of his words of this city. The Beauth of the city of Lakeland and the courtesy and kindness of its people induce me to extend to the people my heartiest congratulations, he says I know of no city in the north, whence I came, that does in any way compare with it in beauty or progressiveness. " The spirit of its people does not seem to be the get-rich-quick spirit., but that of joy in the accomplishments of things. Hence Lakeland well deserves its growth, and will continue to grow into one of the foremost cities in the state. The short week which I have spent here has already made of me a Lakeland "fan", and as I respect the privilege granted me in becoming a citize of this most beautiful city, I shall be glad to do my share not only in spititual but also in temporal progression of Lakeland, so that it might some day take its place among the cities of this great state- the place at the head of the list. |
