MAJOR MAINES WATERS -Retired
Polk County Sheriff, Retired, Winter Haven

 Mr. Maines died of heart failure, he was 69, born November 22, 1934 in Lake Butler, Fl. He was a lifelong resident of the area.

 Mr Waters retired from the Polk Co. Sheriff's office as a detention Deputy in July 2003. He was a Major for the Polk County Sheriff's office. Mr. Waters was in law enforcement for 40 years. He started with the Winter Haven police department from 1957 - 1972, and the Polk County Sheriff 1972 - 2003. He was in the Marine Corps Reserves, he was a foudnding member of the Faternal Order of Police; Police Benevolent Association; Taught police standards for many years at Polk Community College and his family as a knd and loving man. Mr. Waters memory will forever live strong in is children and grandchildren as the world's most loving dad and as a papathat always did fun things with them and made them laugh.

 Maines is survived by; Shirley S. Campbell Waters; son Troy Waters ; daughter Lori McKown; step- daughters, Tiffany Bowling, Kimberly Daniels, Shannon Holt and Rebecca Liesenring; brothers, Pete, Dick,Purvis and Jackie Waters all of Florida; sisters, Carolyn, Opal and Edith , all of Florida; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

 Visitation was held Sept. 30, 2004 in Winter Haven . Services were held at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Friday, October 1, 2004.

 Interment followed at Auburndale Memorial Park in Auburndale,Polk Co.,Fl.
