Notes from March 6,1991
Today I recieved a telephone call from Mrs.Lucille Mountain of Brooksville,Fl. She is 84 years old. She asked if this was the Frierson resident and when I explained that my mother was a Frierson, we had a long and very nice conversation. Mrs. Mountain said her son came home after meeting with his cousin,Frasier Mountain, and said, " Now Mother don't get excited but someone has been asking about the Frierson family,"  I met Frasier at the Genealogy Society meeting in Brooksville. He gave me Mrs. Mountain's name.I gave him my telephone number. Mrs.Mountain's husband passed away 3 years ago and now her son, Ronald" Rocky" who is a retired attorney lives with her in her home. He is divorced and his daughter and son live in Orlando but they do not contact each other. Rocky helps take care of the house and cooking, etc. His main hobby is a machine shop at home. Mrs. Mountain's daughter and son-in-law live in West Palm Beach. Son-in-law retired from IBM this Feb.Mrs.Mountain's sister,Wilma, was the head of the Social Security Office in Tampa for many years. She reciently moved to Lafayette,LA. to be near her daughter. Wilma Mountain has the family history and genealogy which she has researched for years.
Mrs.Mountain's mother's mother ( her grandmother) was a Frierson. She married a Brady. Mr.Brady's grandmother was Amelia Frierson. Mrs.Mountain's mother was niece to Taylor Frierson. He was the only son  and had six sisters. One sister married and lived in Ruskin; another lived in Dade City and a third in Hudson,Fl. The faml=ily originally came from South Carolina. Mrs.Mountain's great-grandfather was William Frierson. He had orange groves in Spring Lake and her father continued the business. She and her husband lived there until WWII when when they moved to Tampa. Her husband had a position as a Fruit Inspector with the state, and this allowed their children to remain and graduate from school there.
(Addition: Mrs.Mountain died June 2,1997,age 89. She was member of Brooksville Church of Christ.)

Notes on Vereen Cemetery
Frierson Burials in Hudson
The cemetery is located about 5 miles east of Hudson, across the street from the Hudson High School. It was near the Frierson Homestead. There was a church there but it burned. Mrs.Mountain's mother played the organ at the church.
The cemetery was away from any development and quite isolated for a number of years. Then a man bought the acreage and fenced it in,including the cemetery portion and let cattle run across the graves. Many tombstones were broken. When the family realized whay had happened, they made arrangements to reclaim the cemetery since it is against the Florida law to sell a cemetery.
A Mr.Bergen (?) gave the property to the family, and after they cleared up the title, they had peoblems with vandals trashing it. Now it is fenced and taken care of. Every year, the last Saturday of November there is a meeting of the family there at the cemetery. One portion has large oak trees and is open land, so they meet there to discuss matters and have a covered dish luncheon. The call is the " Cemetery Working" but it is more of a reunion.
