> Charley Davis,- Punta Gorda Fish Company:
David was 30, He came from Morehead, N.C.- Charley Davis, a young man who had been working for the Punta Gorda Fish Company, died at 3:30 last Saturday at the residence of Marshal Bowman, where he was a border. He had been sick for about 4 weeks, the cause of death was some internal obstruction which the best medical aid failed to remove. The deceased came here from Morehead, N.C.,he was 30 years old, and leaves a wife to mourn his loss. He was a very popular young man and his death is sencerly regretted by all who knew him.
 His body was laid to rest in the City Cemetery, Sunday morning. ( Punta Gorda Herald, Jan. 10, 1902 )
> Darr, Nancy Elizabeth,
 Nancy was 77,  loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away May 8, 2011. Nancy was a loving wife and mother.
 Nancy is survived by her husband, Thomas K. Darr, 7 children; Kris Trueblood (Chuck), Kathy McDonnell (Mike), Tom Darr (Karen), Lori Gault, Clayton Darr (Maggie), Ed Darr, and Jim Darr, 9 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Thomas J. Beavers, Richard Beavers, Joyce Oubari, Dee Cason, and Mike Smart.
 Nancy's friendly face will be remembered from 40 years around Ft Myers as a dedicated poll worker, a hostess at the old Jerry's restaurant, a loyal associate at Dillard's, and a long-time employee of the Lee County Tax Collector's office from which she retired. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
 Arrangements made by Atchley Funeral Home in TN. A private memorial is being held.

Raymond was 85, He passed away on March 16, 2011. Dad and family moved to Lehigh Acres in 1964 and he helped set up and run Lehigh Pharmacy as the pharmacist for over 35 years. In his off time he loved to bowl and fish.
 Dad ( Raymond ) proudly served his country during World War II in the Army. He belonged to the American Legion.
 Dad was preceded in death by his loving wife Viriginia (Ginny) in 1989, two son's Craig and Keith Oosterhous, one grandson Jon Paul Gendrault.
  Dad is survived by his daughter Carol Melcer, son Kurt Oosterhous and one grandson Gregory Oosterhous.
  Dad was a great person and we will miss him!!!
  Military Honors will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday May 23, 2011 at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72 Sarasota, FL 34341. Mom will be placed with Dad and they will be together again.

>Mrs. Zelia A. BLAIR,
 Zelia was 94, of Ft. Myers, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997. Zelia moved here from Dearborn, Mich., She had ben a resident here for twelve years.
 Mrs. Blair is survived by her son, Andrew Blair (Ruth Ann) of Walled Lake, Mich., daughter, Juliua Bibak of Wixom,Mich; four grandsons; and ten great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated today, Wed. Feb. 19, 1997, at the Church of the Resurrection.

>Pearl Lillian Smith SHEROUSE
  Pearl was a 60-year-old Fort Myers resident, died early yesterday morning at the Lee Memorial hospital. She had been ill for some time. Mrs. Sherouse had lived on Seminole avenue in East End for the past year and had a wide circle of friends in Fort Myers.
 Mrs. Sherouse is survived by her husband, John M. Sherouse, three sons, Cyril M., Clarence W., and Carlos M. Sherouse ; two daughters, Mrs. Harry W. Morrow and Mrs. Clyde Moss,Her mother Mrs. Sarah A. Smith; two brothers, L. L.. Smith of  Tampa and A. M. Smith of Farmville, Va., and two sisters, Mrs. I. M. Hinson of Whiteville, N.C. and Mrs. L. M. Sherouse of Fort Myers and 12 grandchildren.
  Funeral services will be held at the Edgewood Methodist church with the Rev. H. L. Wiggins officiating. The pallbearers will be J. C. Sumner, J. P. Underwood, Russell W. Underwood, J. F. Infinger, Clarence Clutz and O. B. Blount.

>Margaret "Mattie" ALVAREZ,
  Mattie was born in St. Louis, MO on August 11, 1916. Margaret "Mattie" Alvarez died peacefully at the Hospice House at Healthpark in Fort Myers, FL on Sunday March 13, 2011. After she graduated from Blow School she went to work at International Hat, and retired at age 62. She then became involved in the Carondelet Senior Center and volunteered there with the Meals on Wheels program. She was a fixture in the Michigan Avenue section of South St. Louis, a member of the Los Colabaradoras of the Spanish Society, a faithful parishioner at SS Mary & Joseph, and a member of the Mothers' Club there. She was an avid reader, letter writer, bingo player, and enjoyed talking with people and laughing as often as possible. In 2000 at the age of 84, she made the move to Fort Myers, FL to be near her daughter Madeline and made more friends along the way. Mattie will be missed by many.
  She is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Barney Alvarez: and her parents Joe Garcia & Josefa Menendez Garcia, and all of her siblings, Olga, Babe, Albert, and Joey.
 She leaves behind daughter Madeline & son in law Glenn Ronning of Ft Myers, FL and Madeline's children, Michele Larson of Houston, TX, and Kevin (Dawn) Larson of South Orange, NJ and his two sons, Max and Flynn. She will be missed by her nieces Diane Kunz and Nancy Ulrich and their families. In addition there are many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and Glenn's children and grandchildren who knew Mattie along with many friends she had over her lifetime, most of whom she had lost over the years.
  Services: A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held early this summer in St. Louis. She will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery next to Barney.Arrangements under the direction of National Cremation & Burial Society, North Fort Myers, FL.
>Clark David Hyland,
Clark was 73, of Carmel, IN and Fort Myers, FL died on March 10, 2011 at Hope Hospice. He was born on June 10, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA, a child of Donald D. Hyland, Ellen Wakefield, and Leona (Porter) Hyland. A part time resident of Fort Myers for the past 13 years, Clark was a past President of the Lexington Art Guild, Fort Myers and attended the New Hope Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University. He was the owner and President of Abrasive Products, Fortville, IN and served as an Elder and Sunday School Teacher at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. He was an Eagle Scout, coached youth sports and served as a Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed reading, biking, hiking, golfing, traveling, and painting watercolors. His greatest loves were his wife and family. He was especially fond of his four grandsons.
 He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen (Asselmeier) Hyland, his sons, David Clark (Amy) Hyland of Cincinnati, OH and Michael Clark (Delonna) Hyland of Dallas, TX, 4 grandsons and his sister, Janet (Tony) Prodan of Irvine, CA.

 Harvey was 85, of Batavia. Born Oct. 11, 1925, in Newark, Ill., the son of Jason and Edna (nee Newton) Sampson, he passed away peacefully Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Rosewood Care Center in Elgin. He was united in marriage to Elaine Averill, Aug. 17, 1946, in Batavia. Harvey retired from Barber Greene Company after over 30 years of dedicated service. Upon retirement, he worked in the Batavia Township Assessor's Office. He was a member of the Boys Club, which met at the Knights of Columbus building in Batavia. He was also involved in the Tebala Shrine, the Fox Valley Chapter of the Eastern Star and Batavia Meals on Wheels program.
 He is survived by his children, Marlaine Chase of Fort Wayne, Ind., Janet (Randall) Wesemann of Marengo, Ill., and Robert Sampson of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Brian (Melody) Wesemann, Tina (Dan) Winters of Huntley, Leslee (Kevin) Kriegel of Hampshire, Michael Chase of Evansville, Ind. and Brandon Chase of Henderson, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Karlye Benthuysen and Aaron, Ellen and Mallory Winters of Huntley, Autumn Kriegel of Hampshire and Hunter Chase of Henderson; his sisters, Dorothy Sampson of Fort Myers, Fla., Eleanore Twait of Kankakee, Ill., and Marjorie Baker of Goliad, Texas.
 In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine; sisters, Jean Brockman and Joyce Phillips; and brothers-in-law, Ralph "Pete" Brockman, Harley Baker and Truman Twait.
 Visitation: will be from 4 until 8 p.m, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 18, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. (Route 31), Batavia, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 19. Interment will follow in West Batavia Cemetery in Batavia.  Loving parents and grandparents devoted to family and their many friends. After 65 years of marriage they died five days apart. They were together in life and will now be together again forever. George was a renowned interior designer in New York and in Fort Myers. Estelle worked with George in his New York office for many years. George was a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers and served on its South Florida board for many years. A lover of music as well as design George served as a board member of the Southwest Florida Symphony for over 15 years. Their love and laughter will be missed.

>Bill Shaun DODSON, 49, died on March 13, in Fort Pierce, FL. He was born in Springfield, MA and moved to Fort Myers in 1969, coming from Springfield, MA. He was a Senior Claims Adjuster for an insurance company. He graduated from The Canterbury School in 1979 and received a Bachelor Degree in Sociology from Stetson University in 1984. He was a member of Sigma NU Fraternity, the Kiwanis Club Iona McGregor of Fort Myers, a supporter of the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation and American Diabetes Foundation. He loved Florida State Football and fishing.
 He is survived by his father; Charles W. Dodson of Fort Myers, mother; Ann F. Dodson of Fort Myers, brother; Sheldon (LaDeene) L. Dodson of Fort Pierce, sister; Sharon K. Childress of Leawood, KS, nephews; Brandon C. Dodson and Blake C. Dodson both of Fort Pierce, niece; Brooklyn A. McDonald of Leawood, KS.

>Genevieve Rose FRANZ, 98, died peacefully at The Windsor of Cape Coral on March 22, 2011. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Stanley and Anna Kietur. Genevieve ran an advertising business in Detroit MI where she resided for many years until retiring to Fort Myers. She was preceded in death by her first husband Harold Miller, her son Douglas Miller and second husband Raymond Franz. >DELORES "DEE" GRISE - PAWLISCH, 81, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Good Samaritan Village in Loveland, Colo. Born in Fort Wayne, she worked as a tax preparer with H & R Block and as a florist for Cottage and Crossroads Florists. She was a member of Parkwood Church of God, where she taught the High School Sunday School Class for many years. She had also been a member of Pi Omicron Sorority, Eastern Star and volunteered for Three Rivers Literacy Alliance RSVP and other organizations. Dee was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  Her smile will live in the hearts of her loved ones forever.
Surviving are her husband, John Pawlisch of Fort Wayne; son, Glenn (Mary Pat) Grise of Evergreen, Colo.; daughter, Lauren (Peter) Scott of Loveland, Colo.; step-daughters, Vicki (Rick) Hobbs of Cicero, Ind.; Shari (Larry) Myers and Kristi (George) Dunn both of Fort Wayne; brother, Paul (Lois) Swaim of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Justin, Stefan, A.J., Sam and Jackson; step-grandchildren, Bethany, Aaron, Amber, John, Bobby, and Olivia; seven step-great-grandchildren.
 She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Grise.
 Service is 11 a.m. Friday at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with the Rev. Ben Keckler officiating, with calling one hour prior. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Parkwood Church of God or the Scleroderma Foundation.

 Joan was 68, of Ft. Myers and formerly of Smithtown, NY passed away March 22, 2011. Joan was born February 26, 1943, in Queens, NY. She was the daughter of Thomas and Kathryn Kimmins. Joan was a graduate of Molloy College and received her Master's in Education at Adelphi University. She was an elementary school teacher in the Deer Park School District before retiring to Florida and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. While Joan resided in Fort Myers, she enjoyed spending time making crafts, playing cards, and playing with her two pomeranian dogs, Midnight and Nappy. Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Joseph Cynar, Jr.; her adored children, Deidre Cynar, and Joseph Cynar, and his wife Marianne. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia (Kimmins) Ly. Joan was the adored grandmother to Jillian and Jonathan Cynar, and beloved aunt to Erin and Ryan Ly, and Nicole Sinkys. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerry Kimmins. She will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 24, at Lee Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Mar. 25, at Blessed Pope John XXIII.

>U.S.A.FlagRoger Francis PAQUIN, born on January 19, 1928 in Methuen, MA and was raised by the Doherty sisters, Nellie, Mummie, and Cassie his foster mothers (deceased). Passed away peacefully on December 27, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife Joan, his children, Kenneth (Cindy) Paquin, Sherryl Houser, Robin Crandall, Keith (Valerie) Paquin, Jeanine (Glenn) Hoyle, Kathleen (Anthony) Webster, Erin (Thomas) Hagood; his loving grandchildren, Gaylee, Roger and Michael Paquin, Sonja Dean, Lisa Savaglio, Cherie Chamberlain, Megan Robinson, Allison and Kaitlyn Hagood; and one great-granddaughter, Hope Willingham. Preceded in death by son, Douglas. Roger served in the US Coast Guard on active duty for 22 years and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer. He continued to work for the Coast Guard as a federal civilian servant in Washington, DC for another 17 years before retiring from Coast Guard Headquarters in January, 1983. Roger was very active in Falls Church, VA as a Little League, Babe Ruth, and American Legion baseball coach and umpire from 1965 to 1977 and some of his players (as adults) have contacted Roger in Florida to let him know what a great influence he was to them. This meant a great deal to Roger.
 A memorial service was held at Glory to God Anglican Church, 3735 N. Indian River Drive, Cocoa, FL on Saturday, January 15th, 2011. Burial with Full Military Honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday, March 24 at 9 a.m.

Born in West Orange, NJ, on January 27, 1914, she was proceeded in death by her parents Katherine and Edward McKeon, her brother PFC. Edward (Buddy) McKeon and sister Anne Lowe, her beloved husbands Thomas L Smith, Jr and John Hubert. She is survived by her children Carol (David) Evans of Ft. Myers FL /Avon Lake, OH, Thomas (Pam) Smith of Lakewood, OH, Edward (Marlene) Smith of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia/ St. Petersburg, FL and Kathryn (Ray) Ellis of Crivitz, WI. Missing her loving arms are her grandchildren Chris, Matt, Eric, Laura, Brian, Kevin, Scott, Mike and Jeff; great grandchildren Jake, Delaney, Conner, Aiden, Jordan, Skyler, Kirsten, Neil and Eddie and nieces Luanne, Phyllis, Priscilla, Ginny and nephews Ray, Louie and Ken Jr. Rose loved traveling with her husbands to the far corners of the earth, dancing, sewing, painting and golfing. She was a active member of Fort Myers Congregational United Church of Christ, P.E.O. Sisterhood -Chapters FA in FL and J in OH, Seven Lakes Women's Club and the 9 and 18 hole leagues and the Red Hatters.
 Rose enjoyed her final year of life in the company of a very caring staff at the Inn at Cypress Cove.
There will be a celebration of her life at the Ft. Myers Congregational United Church of Christ, 8210 College Parkway, Ft. Myers, FL 33919 on Tuesday, March 15 at 2 PM. The grandchildren and great grandchildren will join together in a summer celebration in Avon Lake, OH. The family wishes to thank the many folks who have been so kind to Rose over the years and enjoyed her wonderful zest for life and sense of humor.( Arrangements under the direction of National Cremation & Burial Society, North Fort Myers, FL. )
>Harry "Jim" DeJidas, 71, of Fort Myers, passed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, March 18, 2011 following an extended illness. He was born April 29, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA and moved to Fort Myers from upstate New York in 1998. He retired from R. H. Donnelly Corporation. He graduated from Baptist Bible College and Seminary in 1963 and was very involved in youth ministry and served as camp director for Sunshine Acres in Napanoch, New York following his retirement. He was also a member of McGregor Baptist Church where he was very involved with many activities at the church. Jim was the beloved husband of 49 years to Norma DeJidas and was a wonderful father to his daughter, Darlene Thorp (Dan) of Whitney Point, NY. Also surviving is his step-mother, Betty DeJidas of Pittsburgh, PA; his grandchildren, Joshua, Katelyn and Ryan and three sisters, Linda Allen (Michael), Elaine Lowman (Keller) and Carol Consoli (Vince), all of Pittsburgh, PA.
 Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 25, 2011 at McGregor Baptist Church, 3750 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, with the Rev. Dan Allen officiating.

>James T. Harper, 84, passed away March 23, 2011. He was born June 4, 1926 in Chicago, IL to the late Edward and Lillian (Nemec) Harper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Edward, Lillian, Laverne, Daniel and Richard.
 He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores; and a sister, Mary Harper of Las Vegas, Nevada.
 Mr. Harper retired as Assistant Deputy Fire Commissioner in Chicago, IL. He loved fishing and gardening.
 Visitation on Monday, March 28, 2011 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at St. Columbkille Catholic Church. Funeral will begin at 11:00.  Interment will be at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens following the service. >John Glaser, 80, of Cape Coral, passed away on Thurs., March 24.  Born in Philadelphia, PA and graduate of Penn State University in 1953, he worked as a project manager and estimator for Riggs Distler, Inc. on industrial construction projects in Philadelphia, PA., Baltimore, MD for 28 years.  He relocated to Ft. yers in 1982 and worked at B & I Contractors in Ft. Myers for 18 years before retiring in 2000. He is survived by his wife Nancy, son John C. Glaser of Baltimore, MD., Step-children Janet Snyder, Linda Beach and Thomas Hansen, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. >Roche, Carol Jean, Born in Meadville, PA, February 17, 1932;  Carol passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011 after a brief bout with cancer.
  Carol married Seymour on September 8, 1951 and they began their life journey in Samson Air Force Base, Geneva, NY. After moving to Fort Myers, Carol began her career with F. W. Woolworth where she retired in 1985. She was an active member in the community volunteering well over 5,000 hours with Southwest Regional Hospital here in Fort Myers and the Hospital Thrift Store in Franklin, NC during the summer months. She was also an active member of the Page Park Community Senior Center. Carol also enjoyed extensive travel around the world, covering five continents.
  Carol was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Gladys Veith.
  Carol is survived by her loving husband, Seymour; her son, Cliff (Vicky); her daughter, Kathy Slappey (Wayne); her grandchildren: Chris, Jennifer, Jesse and Michael and her sisters: Audrey Onspaugh (Harry) and Sue Babcock. She is also survived by two nephews and four nieces.
  Friends will be received from 6 - 8 PM on Monday, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
  Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
