Susan Dick Cairns, 61, died at home in
Tampa on Saturday, June 10 of an aortic aneurysm. She was born April
11, 1945 in Warner Robbins, Georgia to Henry and Genevieve Kehoe Dick.
She attended Wilson Jr. High, Plant High School and Hillsborough
Community College in Tampa. Susan was employed as the IT3 - Web
Specialist at Hillsborough Community College’s Distance
Learning
program. She was a founding member of the Southwest Florida Pioneers
Historical Society, an on-line web presence dedicated to the history
and genealogy of Lee County, Florida. Ms. Cairns was descended from Lee
County pioneer settlers Asa and Ella Taylor Hadden. She was predeceased
by her parents, grandparents Esther Bell Hadden and Panell Kehoe, an
infant brother and close
Laverne Tornow: close friend William Royal. She is survived by her
daughter Buffy Everett (Clark) Vessey of Tampa FL, her former husband
Keith Everett of Houston TX, her husband Tommy Cairns of Scotland, her
sister Linda Dick (Stewart)Weiss of Englewood TN and three nieces. She
will be sadly missed by a host of friends and her beloved pets, Biscuit
and Miss Kitty. “Time is a companion that goes with us on a
journey. It
reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again.
What we leave behind is not as important as how we have
lived.” Susan was the 1st Lee County
Coordinator.
